Mission Statement
The Kingsville Soccer Travel program is dedicated to providing a competitive and fun environment for our kids. Below are some basic objectives to our program.
Coach Jon Eaton has been volunteering for the Kingsville Rec program as a soccer coach for 7 years. He has coached u8 through u15 boys and girls. Coach Jon has been working his way through the US Soccer Coaches training program. He currently holds his Grassroots License with US Soccer. At times Coach Jon has coached 3 teams in a season. He played competitive soccer as a Goalkeeper from 3 to 30 years of age when he had an injury that took him out of the game.
The very first thing he says to the team before every season is “I am a loud coach, but never an angry coach”.
There will be instruction during games to help the kids learn better positioning and soccer strategies. You will hear him at games as he will be very engaged with the team. However, we will avoid negativity, and never berate a player. Players will make mistakes, and at times we will try to correct the mistake in game as it happens so an immediate connection is made between what happened and how to improve from it.
We will also do our best at strong positive encouragement and reinforcement after something good happens. This “feed the good” mentality has paid many dividends with our players and is a crucial component to player development.
2024 Old Line State Classic Champions
- Sportsmanship is our number one priority. Our program reputation should continue to be one of proper conduct on and off the field. No showboating, excessive bragging or celebration, or derogatory comments toward the other team, referees, parents or coaches.
- Advancing the skills of our players in a constructive environment. Soccer requires highly skilled footwork, stamina and agility, as well as strategic thinking. Our goal is to grow in all three areas. This involves positive reinforcement of good decisions, as well as constructive interactive discussion so we learn from our mistakes. Feed the good! But also understand where we can improve. We will also provide separate Goalkeeper training as this position is a lynchpin of any team and utilizes a unique skillset.
- Our Coaching philosophy is to be highly engaged at practices and games. Children need to learn to think for themselves on the field, but they also need experienced help from our coaches so they can grow.
- Work Hard and Play Hard, but never forget to have fun. Club soccer is a competitive environment that requires teams to put extra effort into excelling at the sport. However, we must do our best to avoid burnout. The Greatest players never lost their love of the game. Having fun is a critical component to the success of a soccer player. We want a program that provides great opportunities for our kids to get better while still enjoying the game.
- Competitive Club Soccer at a reasonable cost. Our coaching staff and rec council are all volunteers. We don’t charge extra fees like other club programs. We provide a competitive learning environment for our players, with experienced coaches, great facilities like Kingsville Park, and all the same leagues, tournaments, practices, and training of the other club programs. And all of this at nearly half the cost of similar programs.
